Welcome to the first Barista Underground online Latte Art competition. We have tried to keep it as simple as possible but if you have any questions please let us know in the forum so that we can address them.
Steps you need to do to enter the competition:
1. Download the form from HERE
2.
Print out the background on an A4 piece of paper
3. Do your latte
art, place the cup provided on the piece of paper
4. Take two
digital photographs of the latte art as directed on the background
5.
Email the original photo files to me at

with your name and company represented (if Pro) and the class you are entering
into
6.Reduce the sizes of the images to 800*600 and post them
on the forum HERE so everyone can see (get a geek to help you if you are unable)
Visual Judging Criteria
The following
criteria will be used by our judges to evaluate the Latte Art:
* Contrast and edge definition between ingredients (5 Marks)
*
Foam Consistency (5 Marks)
* Harmony, size and position among patterns within cups (10 Marks)
*
Creativity of the pattern (10 Marks)
* Successfully achieved level of difficulty (10 Marks)
*
Overall appealing look (10 Marks)
Total 50 Marks
Competition Rules
1. No
retouching of images is allowed
2. Judges decision is final
3.
Entries must include 2 images as specified on background
4. We
reserve the right to change/add rules as we may deem necessary to ensure
fairness in the competition
5. We have a class for proffesional
and home barista's as well as an open etching class, please ensure you
specify on your email what class you wish to enter into.
6. Entries Close Monday 7th June 2010 after which all entries will be emailed to the judges for anonymous evaluation and scoring
7. We hope to have all scoring finalised and on the web site by Friday the 11th of June
Please remember that we are going to do our best to make this as
fair and simple as possible, this is a FUN competition, no entry fees
are being
charged and it is being run by amateurs so if you are going to get tense
about anything please rather do not enter.
I would like to than
all our sponsors for providing us with some prizes to give to our
contestants. SHowing of your insane latte art skills should however be
your main motivator for entering the competion.
