Wasn't planning to, sorry mate. You can order directly from them, of course, their transport costs are very reasonable. If you use Post Office then beans are R120/kg and postage is from R4-R30/kg.

Thanks John, I have tried it at your place and it was awesome. I will rather get some green beans to play around with.

Hey folks - haven't forgotten about this, just have not had a chance to chat to the roaster I mentioned earlier. Will prob see them next week.

Meantime I discovered that...

...Sweet Maria's rates for coffee and shipping are pretty good, but they are not keen on shipping to SA.

...hasbean.co.uk has some really cool stuff, but shipping cost is horrendous - cost gets up to R180/kg for 10kg!

...There are no customs import duties on green coffee, but there will be Import VAT, at about 15% of invoiced value.

...I will probably get my brother in San Francisco to bring out some nice stuff when he comes over in December.

Hi Guys

I got some shipping quotes from Coffee Shrub. I don't think it is bad at all but the pricing is done on 360Kg. I don't know anything about import fees and port charges. Any advice would be appreciated.

Here is the email that Chris send me:

Hi Renier,
Chris here from shrub. I've been looking into ocean freight quotes and transit times to South Africa. UPS looks like it's going to be around $0.90 US per pound door to port with a 48 day transit, and Fedex looks like about $0.60 US per pound door to port with a 42 day transit time. Of course there are always the possibility of import fees and other port charges so those figures could be a little more. Both UPS and Fedex will only get the cargo to Johannesburg which I understand is only about 50 miles away or so, so there would be transit from there to you in Pretoria that you would have to figure out. It would be very exciting to get some of these coffees to you. Let us know what you think about these rates and transit times. The figures were based on a load of 360 KG.

Thanks so much,

Chris
